“Mama’s being a jerk.”
Yeah, well… there are usually two sides to the story Papa, and you’re only getting one. So, in front of Bugz I asked her father if she’d explained to him why I was behaving as I was. He indicated her explanation was, “Mama didn’t respond”.
It was an excellent opportunity to openly discuss with her, connect with her, and learn with her.
But, as she said through her anger and frustration, or rather didn’t say, Mama wasn’t connecting at that point. So, I totally blew a great opportunity. Yet, in spite of my stupid selfishness and narrow mind, and impatience today, my little one still allowed me a second chance and even reached out to me toward the end of the day and tonight.
Perhaps it’s the balance her Papa brings, perhaps it’s just her character already solidly formed – how she seems to function with such grace is beyond me. For it, I am exceedingly thankful. And from it, I am learning and growing. Daily.
