She wrote P, then a, and asked if she could make a big A because it is a much better A… So, the second P A followed suit.
She shocked us at the end of July demonstrating out of the blue her ability to write Lily. She wrote MAMA sort of about two weeks ago, but mostly just the m’s. But this morning, she took a piece of paper and wrote her name. Then, she wrote MaMa, but really doesn’t like make small a’s. She took another sheet of paper, and started with P. I asked her what she was going to write, and she responded Papa (little did I know she knew how to generate/spell it – though she was able to read it about 6 months ago).
She stumbled a bit on the little a, so I grabbed a magnet capital A. She responded with a big smile. “Yep, that’s good.”
Then, as I watched in silence and wonder, she completed his name, and added a heart. Then said she needed to go wake him up and give it to him.
Lily will be 4 halfway through October. She loves being able to read when she wants to, and she makes words now with her foam letters at her whim. Sometimes the words are spelled/created in reverse (an important development underway, not a concern as some might think), but the words are usually spelled accurately phonetically (which means they’re spelled correctly about 1/2 the time, gotta love English).
It would seem she can also now write the very same words. She didn’t stop with Lily, Mama, and Papa today…
