This morning was full of firsts for Bugz. And to think, she spent the night with a fever…
While we were making breakfast, she noticed a dead bug on the counter. I don’t know for sure what the insect was, or where it came from, but it was tiny and just sort of lying there (as if it had fallen out of the air).
Wings, most of the body intact, she was able to identify the eyes, thorax, exoskeleton, legs, and wings. She asked me what it was and I responded that I didn’t know. So, instead of giving up on her curiosity, she asked for Papa’s phone. She opened the browser on the phone and began to search for the answer to her question. Her comment was, “Well, mom, if you don’t know what it is, let’s just look it up”.
She proceeded, unassisted, to enter “Wat is this bug?” (yes, she included the question mark, both verbally and on the phone) and received a slew of results. She clicked a few and when she wasn’t satisfied, she added “blak” (black) to the search string, then clicked “images” in the google results. Then she spent 5 minutes scrolling through them, not satisfied, and eventually took to a blow the bug back and forth with Mama game, until it ended up on the floor. Then she found it and we took pictures, she suggested maybe Grandma would know what it was.
