Today, yes today, we put the Christmas tree away. Well, technically, we started last night and it will likely be completed by tomorrow. Lily agreed yesterday that we could put Christmas away in order to bring on Easter. She likes bunnies, she says. She has been unwilling to put away the Christmas tree before now, stating, “Christmas isn’t over yeh-et”, every couple of days.
Russ needed me to cut his hair this morning, and she wanted me to help her wrap/pack up the rest of the ornaments – at the same time. I struck a deal: I would cut Papa’s hair, and while doing so, she could go through all our Easter related stuff. I explained that I just had to retrieve the Easter box; that (all of) it was under the house.
A few minutes passed and she said, “But how are we gonna lift the house?”
I didn’t pay attention to her question much, I figured she was talking to herself and her imaginative world. But then she asked me again, and this time added, ‘so we can get the easter stuff’. It dawned on me then that she was referring to my statement of having to get the items from “under the house”. SO… How are we going to lift the house to get them then, huh??
Tomorrow I will ask her how she thinks we might successfully do just that.
I love how her brain works.
