Today, Lily again informed me of the date. It’s December 19. She reminded me that yesterday was the 18th. She then reminded me that there are 6 days until Christmas. She then stated that she’s close to 107, which is after 106, which happens to be an episode number in the MLP (Friendship is Magic) series. And, apparently, the next episode, the 108th, is one of her favorites… and that she’s pretty close to being 108 years old, but closer to being 107 years old. (Think Mavis, Vampire, Hotel Transylvania).
I explained that well, yeah, she might be close to being 107… but it’s still 100 years away. She looked at me. Paused, then stated, “Ooohhhh, so THAT’S how that works. So, in 101 years, I’ll be 108.”
Um, yep. I guess she gets this aspect of addition. Apparently, she’s also becoming rather aware of the date and subtracting quantities/count down to a specific point in time, particularly one she is interested in.
