She asked about oil, where it comes from and how it gets processed so we can use it in cars, etc..
We have spent most of today exploring how crude oil has formed, how it is extracted, refined, and finally delivered for our consumption. We’ve also talked about fracking for natural gas, the uses of natural gas vs oil, and the damage that both industries are causing to our planet and our health.
We then discussed renewable, non-detrimental energy sources: solar, wind, hydro, perpetual motion. We use a few of these resources to provide power for our RV, and soon will utilize them for our residence, in one form or another. My hope is she will grow, knowing deeply the value of preserving and responsible stewardship of our planet and her body/health.
