A few days ago, the three of us hiked around Big Meadows Reservoir, west of South Fork, Colorado. Her immense love for the flowers was delightful. The endless curiosity is admirable. We shall go back and discover more soon!
Grids, Balls, Little Person, and Kitty Cats
Today, after getting what appeared to be a fairly decent night’s rest, Lily popped down for breakfast and started counting the fire makers (lighter sticks) in the package on the counter. She indicated, as she touched each, that there were a total of 5. Then she counted the ginger bread cookie cutters (4) and the […]
New house
She loves the new house that Grandma found. I asked for a ‘cheese,’ but I got a ‘moo’. Good idea!
Squire Cecily Jane
Cecily loves Jane and the Dragon. She thinks she needs a dragon and she’s convinced she’s Squire Jane. She is now calling Russ, in a Old English-New Australian accent, “Gunther”… I however, as of yet do not have a name. Well, I do, I’m Nudah (Star Trek) and then Russ is Dayduh, but that requires […]
Friction, Fly Eyeballs, and Staring Contests
Today Lily learned that flies don’t have teeth. She also learned they spit on solid food to make it turn into a liquid, because their tongues are like straws. Flies don’t have stingers either, but Hobo Spiders bite. She was a Pest Investigator (see website – http://www.pestworldforkids.org/index.html ) We played all the games, which gave […]
How to Keep Your Tiara in Place
And if that gets tiring… She made a house for the resident fairies this day…
Hum… ____________ starts with _____, and the value of visual media
Cecily routinely determines, without solicitation or encouragement, the beginning (and often ending or other predominant) sound(s) in words. Today: Happy – that starts with huh huh.. H Milk – that starts with M like Mama and me Nelson – that starts with nuh nuh and there’s a big LLLLLL in there, but I think there’s […]
Super Dead Fish
Jessica, the 7 year old gold fish ($.12 feeder) is dead. BUT… Take heart.. She’s not just dead… She’s SUPER DEAD! Lily identified the fish as, well, not breathing nor moving a couple of mornings ago. We’d expected this and moved her to her own tank for the duration. She was rather old, […]

Our Hike
We went hiking today with a friend who hasn’t had much exposure to Lily. After being in her presence for a few hours, he concluded that talking with her is like talking to a little adult. He seemed pleased with her ability to communicate and articulate her thoughts so completely. She managed quite well […]
