Today Lily learned that flies don’t have teeth. She also learned they spit on solid food to make it turn into a liquid, because their tongues are like straws.
Flies don’t have stingers either, but Hobo Spiders bite.
She was a Pest Investigator (see website – http://www.pestworldforkids.org/index.html )
We played all the games, which gave her insight into x-ray, infrared, and sound investigative tools.
She also learned that bugs can talk.

Lily explored friction with Gerald, plans to draw her family – will attach when complete), and we discussed what our senses are.
The friction/Gerald game required she determine a surface for the floor, and then tell Gerald to test her choices. She used my laptop and controlled the mouse (pad) to make her selections.
On the same sight, Lily played the WeatherWheel game, in which she had to dress up Gerald appropriately (head/body/feet) for whatever the weather was showing (snow, rain, sun). She made multiple selections and accurately dressed Gerald for playing in whatever the weather gave him to play in. She corrected a few choices when prompted to.
I absolutely agree! After all, when you can walk in snow barefoot, it does seem sorta silly to insist upon dressing up like a stuffed penguin.
Though, if Lily managed any sort of duration in the snow in a bathing suit, I might begin to wonder if we should have her nervous system tested… mine is a lost cause.
