Dreams

Lily popped into our room this morning with a smile!  Up on the bed, she announced, “I had a most wonderful dream!”
I asked her to tell me a bit about it and she stated that it was just a yucky dream but then got better, and was most wonderful.  Sometimes she will recall a dream (as in the plot/setting/details) and sometimes just the imprint on her emotions.  When the imprint is all that remains, we typically are pleasantly presented with a new/improved use  of an increased storehouse of adjectives within her “thinking spot”.
What I find most interesting about her comments this morning has less to do with the obvious development and connectivity that occurred while she slept, and more to do with something that happened at about 5am this morning.  I heard her talking and fussing a bit in her sleep so I got up to take her to the bathroom.  While with her, she continued to talk but never woke completely, so I assumed her responses and conversation were associated with a dream she had going. But, as I listened, it became apparent that her dream wasn’t exactly a pleasant one.  So I said to her, “Lilybug, it’s ok to sleep now, have wonderful and peaceful dreams.  Happy, silly, and gentle dreams.  Sleep well now.”
I something like this most every night, but I have never said “wonderful dreams” before last night.  Notice the very first thing she spoke this morning.  🙂
I think I shall do some research on the value of unconscious input.
