Eureka

“Buzz… Buzz…. Buzz…. That’s what bees sound like!”

“Do you know why bees make that sound?”
“Yep, it’s their wings.”
“You are correct.  How did you come to this conclusion?”
“The vacuum taught me. She knows a lot of stuff…”
Followed by her voicing a good bit of conversation for the vacuum.

Today, while eating breakfast, she found a connect/dots game on her tablet that she’d not discovered before.  The pictures appear when all the dots are correctly connected, and the numbers count up to about 30.  Without encouragement or assistance, Lily proceeded to determine on her own what to do with the game, and either mouthed or counted the numbers aloud, as she ascended.  With about a 95% accuracy, and as much independent management, she completed a dozen puzzles.  I watched her develop her understanding of the tens/teens/twenties/thirty as she progressed.
Before today, I have heard her count beyond 20, and have been aware of her knowledge and visual recognition of numerals to about 12.  However, as I observed her this morning, it became clear that with the partial understanding she possessed of the numbers above 10, she was able to deduce the remaining parts of the set she was working with.
Now she’s lying on Russ’s lap, sort of snoozing, playing with her belly button.  I love it.

 
And.. “The bones in your eyes are balls! That’s why they’re so big.”
So, I asked, “Do they bounce?”  She’s contemplating still –
