Mystery, Research, Brain Transference

“I want Cleopatra’s thoughts. If they mummified the bodies, did they sick their brains in jars? Could we now hook up those brains and, with our technology, get their memories and thoughts? Can we just make them (ancient brains) think again and see what that brain thinks through a computer?”
“I’m going to write a new book. A mystery for solving.”
Hours later… “So, you’re writing a mystery?”, to which she replied, “No, I’m collecting research and recording it first. I need facts first.”
Now, she’s telling the turtle a good night story.
We had a peaceful day, with a rocky end. She spent about an hour out in the sun, raising a bird feeder and tending to our critter feeding box. She then got her binoculars and began watching the outdoors. At one point, she’d turned them around and discovered, as I walked into view, that the lenses made me appear much further away than reality. “They work the opposite way if you look through this end.”, she remarked, satisfied with her discovery.
Then, Russ saw which pair of binoculars she was using, which were not her designated pair, but his work set instead, and all hell broke loose. It was a misunderstanding that I caused by putting both pair in her lab weeks ago, not knowing I was going to cause concern, not knowing which pair was what…. A sad and disconnected turn of our evening, for sure.
