LED Robots

tc-sprite-2x
Today we built two robots and gave them sight!  Lily worked on this project as her first project selection from her Tinkercrate and we had a great experience.
She and I read through the directions, she assembled the components, and we set to work placing resistors, LED’s, and copper taping in a pattern on a printed card, that we then attached a 9V battery to in order to light up the robot’s eyes.
Lils discovered just how delicate the leads coming from the resistors and the LED’s are, as well as became aware of the pattern of circuit completion executed by the position of the copper tape. She troubleshot one particular challenge: when one of the two eyes on a single robot seemed to have a flashing/winking twitch, she set to work restoring his vision.  Her copper leads were too far apart for the terminals on the 9V, so she added some copper to one side to decrease the span, and thereby giving a more reliable connection/surface. Yea! He can stop winking all the time now!
