Today we made our squirrel food box. We’ve decided that instead of throwing away our compost-like scraps, we will give them to the squirrels, chipmunks (since we actually had one this summer), and the birds over the winter. So we made a special box that will keep the food dry, and hopefully entice the little creatures when they’re hungry over the winter months.
While we were at it, we explored a bit about squirrels, their food storing, and winter habits. Lils told me that squirrels bury their food in the ground, which wasn’t something I expected. George, the unmonkey, told her.. and guess what I learned today!
Here are some quick shots of our finished project, and a few related videos we watched.
