Lily heard the highschool marching band playing from our bedroom window this evening. She disappeared for about 10 minutes and returned like this! Formerly, she was in something that resembled Pippi and pj’s. She indicated she was “Ready to go see what they were doing!”, and was quite disappointed when she learned that they’d only played a single set (consisting of maybe three songs) and then, by the time she was ready to go out on the town, they’d concluded. Not to mention her disappointment when she was reminded that a walk wasn’t an option last night anyway because of the mosquito truck (for whom she made the following sign, to help encourage the mosquitoes to simply depart on their own so the truck would no longer be a thorn in her Thursday evenings).
Anyway, after she learned that going out was not really an option, she decided to pull up a show on the computer, and be industrious. The show is Littlest Pet Shop, and while some of the characters are a rather ill influence, the main character, Blythe, is refreshing. She’s a smart girl, who enjoys creating and designing, has a good sense of empathy, and solid self confidence – for the most part. She’s also a teen in the cartoon, so some of the resulting behaviors and expressions Lily has decided to add to her collection in the last 24 hours is rather entertaining to see, as she tries them out, one by one, on me.
I especially like this shot because it shows her pony tail (which she can do, all by herself, and she deems necessary to complete her “nerdness” – thank you Sam on Cloudy), shows her focus, shows her capris (which are 24 month pants, by the way, and though they are half way up her leg, they fit otherwise, which is just comical), and her entire self created outfit. She sewed that white sweater together with a few stitches right about mid-breast to keep it closed where she wanted it to be. See the next photo –
